Project Overview

In a commitment to advancing sustainable energy practices, ESAS partnered with Southern Utility Power Company to manage and responsibly recycle over 60,000 solar panels. This project exemplifies ESAS’s dedication to eco-friendly energy solutions, setting a standard for safe and efficient solar panel disposal.

Challenges

The project presented several unique challenges, including:

  • On-Site Safety Compliance: Collaborated with on-site crews to maintain OSHA safety standards at all times.
  • Weather & Pandemic Disruptions: Managed operational timelines amidst severe weather conditions and pandemic-related supply chain disruptions.
  • Transportation & Disposal of Damaged Panels: Coordinated the safe transport and environmentally-conscious disposal of heavily damaged solar panels.

Solution and Execution

Over a period of seven months, ESAS led the logistics and transportation of 100 semi-truck loads of solar panels. Partnering with a top ISO 14001 and R2-certified glass recycler, we ensured that over 2,000 heavily damaged panels were recycled responsibly. Our approach emphasized environmentally sound practices every step of the way.

Results

The project yielded significant outcomes:

  • Successful Inventory Liquidation: Managed excess solar panel inventory with minimal environmental impact.
  • Certified Recycling: Ensured safe, eco-conscious recycling of damaged materials through an ISO 14001 and R2-certified process.
  • Strengthened Industry Partnerships: Reinforced ESAS’s leadership in energy reclamation, expanding partnerships that support sustainable solar solutions.
