We recently had the pleasure of visiting Phoenix Modern, a visionary public charter school in Phoenix, AZ, to talk about solar energy and sustainability.
Michael Polley led an engaging discussion with the learners who came prepared with fantastic questions like:
- How do solar panels turn sunlight into electricity?
- What does an off-grid solar system look like?
- How many panels does it take to power a house—or a school?
The curiosity in the room was electric! From learning about renewable energy sources to discussing the potential of solar-powered Bitcoin mining, the learners proved they were well on their way to becoming future innovators. Our team happily fueled their enthusiasm with cookies and handed out ESAS journals, encouraging them to keep exploring and jotting down new discoveries.
A big thank you to Phoenix Modern’s staff—especially School Director, Nikol Carlson and Learning Guide, Bri Spadafora—for hosting us. It was a privilege to see how the school nurtures children’s natural sense of wonder, joy, and love of learning.
Why This Matters
- Inspiring Future Leaders: Young learners will shape tomorrow’s sustainable solutions.
- Hands-On Learning: Answering real questions ensures learners build practical understanding.
- Community Partnerships: Connecting with local schools allows us to share our passion for renewable energy and empower the next generation.
